We will still have an emphasis on skating technique, as speed, power and agility work are crucial to the game today. The station drills will each focus on a different skill, while challenging campers against their peers. Small area games, while the most fun way to end practice, also emphasize creative problem solving to facilitate thinking the game at a higher level and layering skills learned throughout the camp.
Puck Handling Session/Street Hockey: Campers will learn and practice puck handling drills they can use at home to practice their puck control, and deception. Campers should bring a smart hockey ball or a golf ball for the puck handling sessions. After a short stick handling session, we will break into a street hockey game, helmet and gloves will be required, please bring an off ice stick as well. Street hockey allows the kids to be creative and learn to solve problems, and most importantly having fun with their friends.
